Jiang Yi-huah

Jiang Yi-huah ( Chinese  江宜樺 , Pinyin Jiāng Yíhuà ; born November 18, 1960 in Keelung , Republic of China (Taiwan) ) is a Taiwanese politician of the Kuomintang and was Prime Minister of the Republic of China from February 18, 2013 to December 3, 2014 Taiwan.

Academic career

He holds a PhD in Political Science from Yale University . He then worked as a researcher at Academia Sinica from 1993 to 1993 and as a professor of political science at Taiwan National University from 1995 to 2012 .

Political career

On May 20, 2008, Jiang was appointed to the Research and Development Examination Committee by President Ma Ying-jeou . He was appointed Taiwanese Interior Minister on September 10, 2009 and Deputy Prime Minister on February 6, 2012. From February 18, 2013, he was chairman of the Executive Yuan and thus Prime Minister of the Republic of China. In March 2014, during the Sunflower Movement , Jiang came under fire for having ordered the evacuation of the Executive Yuan occupied by demonstrators. After the Kuomintang were clearly defeated in the Taiwanese local elections on November 29, 2014, he announced his resignation from the post of prime minister.
