Organization Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles

The Organization Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA) (German International Automobile Manufacturers Association ) was founded in Paris in 1919 . It is known worldwide for the evaluation and dissemination of statistics and other information. Every year in August, the OICA publishes figures on the delivery of vehicles by the individual groups in the previous year. This list is recognized worldwide as the official benchmark for classifying the size and importance of automotive groups .

As an umbrella organization of 35 national member associations on five continents, OICA represents the interests of the automotive industry globally. It is to be seen as a lobby organization of international standing that tries to establish its global strategies and positions. Governments, international bodies and organizations as well as NGOs find a contact person in the OICA. It is also the aim of the OICA to act as a coordination center for research, development and future issues. The OICA works closely with automobile clubs ( ADAC , ACE, etc.) and the organizers of auto trade fairs and exhibitions around the world - here, too, it sees itself as a unique interface for international coordination.

A total of 78.8 million vehicles were produced worldwide in 2011. Vehicles of all kinds are counted - there is no differentiation between expensive and cheap cars, or between cars, buses and trucks.
