Norowyn Altanchujag

Norowyn Altanchujag ( Mongolian Норовын Алтанхуяг ; born January 20, 1958 in Uws-Aimag ) is a Mongolian politician of the Democratic Party .

Life

Altanchujag studied physics at the National University of Mongolia , where he then taught from 1981 to 1990. In 1990 he joined the newly founded Mongolian Social Democratic Party , which in 2000 became part of the Democratic Party . From 1996 to 2000 and since 2008 he was a member of the Great State Chural , the parliament of Mongolia. He was Minister of Agriculture and Industry from 1998 to 1999 and Minister of Finance from 2004 to 2006 . From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Prime Minister.

Altanchujag has been chairman of the Democratic Party since September 2008, and was the country's prime minister from August 2012 until his dismissal on November 5, 2014 .
