Süchbaataryn Batbold ( Mongolian Сүхбаатарын Батболд ; born June 24, 1963 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a Mongolian politician and was Prime Minister of the country from October 29, 2009 to August 10, 2012 .

biography

After attending secondary school No. 14, he studied between 1980 and 1986 at the School of International Relations of Moscow University . After his return, he then joined the Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations of the Mongolian People's Republic as an expert and was then head of an export company of the Mongolian import-export cooperative of the ministry from 1988 to 1992. In the meantime, he studied at the University of London in 1991 and was subsequently general manager of Altai Handel LLC between 1992 and 2000 . In 2000 he was appointed Deputy Foreign Minister and held this post until 2004. During this time, he also completed postgraduate studies in 2002 at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In 2004 he was elected a member of the Grand State of Chural and re- elected in the 2008 parliamentary elections. In August 2004 he was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry by Prime Minister Tsachiagiin Elbegdordsch and held this office until January 2006. During this time, in September 2005 in Berlin, together with the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Bernd Pfaffenbach, he opened Mongolia's Business Day as part of the Asia - Pacific Weeks.

On September 20, 2008, he was appointed by Prime Minister Sandschaagiin Bajar as Minister for Foreign Relations and Trade in his cabinet, and since October 2009 he has been his country's successor as Prime Minister. On November 12, he handed over the office of foreign minister to Gombodschawyn Dzandanschatar .
