The 2014 parliamentary elections in Greenland took place on November 28th. All 31 seats in the Inatsisartut , Greenland's parliament, had to be filled .

Suffrage

The 31 members of the Inatsisartut are elected in multiple constituencies using proportional representation . In the allocation of seats, only parties or lists that overcome an explicit blocking clause amounting to 2% of the valid votes cast are taken into account . The seat assignment is done according to the D'Hondt method .

Starting position

The previous Prime Minister Aleqa Hammond ( Siumut ) resigned from this office and as party leader on October 1, 2014 after it became known that she had incorrectly calculated the equivalent of around € 14,000 from budget funds and initially had not reimbursed it. The right-wing liberal coalition partner Atassut subsequently terminated the coalition with the Social Democrats. This was followed by Kim Kielsen (Siumut) selected as provisional successor Hammonds prime minister. The date for new elections was set for November 28th.
