In the parliamentary elections in Greenland in 1991 on March 5th, all 27 seats in Inatsisartut or Landsting, the Greenland parliament , had to be filled.

Starting position

Just one year after the formation of the Motzfeldt IV cabinet , in May 1988 there were again differences in content between the Siumut and the Inuit Ataqatigiit . This mainly concerned uranium mining and NATO membership for the country. At a parliamentary session on June 7, 1988, the Motzfeldt V cabinet was finally worked out, which in addition to Prime Minister Jonathan Motzfeldt consisted of four other Siumut ministers. The minority government was tolerated by the Atassut and Issittup Partiia and was confirmed by parliament on June 8th with 23 of 27 votes. The cabinet existed for the remaining three years of the legislature .

Result

The social democratic party Siumut became the strongest faction in the Inatsisartut, followed by the Atassut and the Inuit Ataqatigiit. The center party Akulliit Partiiat entered parliament for the first time with two seats, while the Issittup Partiia held its seat.
