Lars-Emil Johansen (born September 24, 1946 in Illorsuit ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

family

Lars-Emil Johansen is the son of the former regional council members Kristian Johansen (1915-1958) and Elisabeth Johansen (née Henningsen) (1907-1993), as well as the grandson of Johan Henningsen (1876-1952) and the brother of Severin Johansen (1941 -2005). On September 26, 1970, he married the teacher Myrna Helene Bodil Lynge (* 1948), daughter of Kristian Didrik Vallentin Lynge (1926–?) And Anna Dorthea Petrine Karen Motzfeldt (1927–?). His wife was the niece of Hans Lynge (1906–1988), Klaus Lynge (1902–1981) and Cecilie Lund (1917–1999) and the granddaughter of Niels Lynge (1880–1965). On May 31, 1986 he married the second wife Anne Marie Olsvig (* 1958). He later married a third time.

Life until 1979

Lars-Emil Johansen passed the teacher examination at Grønland's seminarium in Nuuk in 1970 . Then he started working as a teacher in Nuuk. In 1971 he stood up for election to Grønlands Landsråd and was elected despite his only 24 years. In the same year he began to build up the Sujumut self-employment movement with Jonathan Motzfeldt and Moses Olsen . In 1975 he did not run for the National Council again, as he was elected to the Folketing in 1973. In 1973 he became a member of the Hjemmestyreudvalgs and in 1975 the Hjemmestyrekommission . In 1977 the Sujumut became the Siumut party and Lars-Emil was first party secretary, then vice-chairman and from 1979 to 1980 chairman for a short time.

Life from 1979

In 1979, after a significant contribution from Lars-Emil, the Hjemmestyre was finally introduced, through which Greenland became autonomous. He left the Folketing and stood for the first choice for Inatsisartut . He was elected and then appointed Minister of Commerce and Industry. In 1983 he was also given the fishing department. From 1984 to 1986 he was Minister of Fisheries and Industry. In 1986 he became chairman of Sulisartut Højskoliat and therefore left the government. The following year he was appointed party leader of the Siumut. In 1988 he moved from Højskole to become Chairman of the Board of Directors of Royal Greenland . From 1986 to 1991 he was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grønlandsfly .

In 1991 he took over the office of Prime Minister from Jonathan Motzfeldt, after he had already become party chairman. He stayed that way until 1997 when he returned the post to Jonathan Motzfeldt to become Vice Director of Royal Greenland, which he remained until 2002. He also left parliament after 18 years. In 2001 he returned to politics. He became a member of the Folketing again and in 2005 he was re-elected to the Inatsisartut. From 2007 to 2009 he was Finance and Foreign Minister. In 2009 he no longer ran for parliamentary elections. In 2011 he left the Folketing. In 2013 he was elected to Inatsisartut again, as was the case in 2014. During this time he was President of Parliament. In 2018 he ended his political career.

In addition to his activities in Højskole, Royal Greenland and Grønlandsfly, he was also chairman of the board of Atuagagdliutit from 1971 to 1975 and 1979 to 1991 and of Ice Trawl Greenland from 1997 to 2006. From 1999 to 2002 he was chairman of the Alcohol and Narcotics Council and from 2001 to 2006 of Den Grønlandske Havfiskeri og Eksport Sammenslutning (APK). From 1999 he was Chairman of the Board of Upernavik Seafood and from 2009 of Greenland Mining & Energy . He was a member of numerous other supervisory boards.

Awards

Lars-Emil Motzfeldt received the Nersornaat in silver on June 21, 1989 and the gold on September 26, 1991. He is in command of the Order of Dannebrog , bearer of the Dronning Ingrids Medalje with crown and commander of the Norwegian Order of Merit . He also carries a Russian medal for fish industry workers.
