Johan Knudsen
Johan Pavia Morten Jeremias Knudsen (born April 13, 1922 in Narsaq , † October 25, 1973 in the sea near Utoqqarmiut ) was a Greenland state councilor .
Johan Knudsen was the son of Karnis Andreas Emanuel Knudsen and his wife Kristine Marie Kirsten Karen Motzfeldt. Through his mother he was a descendant of Peter Hanning Motzfeldt . In 1959 the merchant Knudsen was elected to the council of the municipality of Narsaq for the first time . In 1963 he was chairman of the municipal council. In 1967 he stood for election to the regional council, but was defeated by Erik Egede . In 1971 he started again; this time he succeeded in entering the national council. He died during his tenure in a helicopter crash on October 25, 1973, six kilometers north of Utoqqarmiut . He and Jørgen Poulsen , who was also killed , were replaced by Hendrik Nielsen and Lars Godtfredsen .
