Marius Abelsen

Marius Karnis Laban Isak Abelsen (born August 26, 1929 in Nanortalik , † October 14, 1972 ibid) was a Greenland state councilor and teacher .

Life

Marius Abelsen was the son of Jacob Egede Ezekias Abelsen (1906–?) And his wife, the midwife Dorothea "Tûlut" Enoksen (1890–?). His father had also been a member of the regional council. Marius attended Grønland's seminarium from 1948 and graduated in 1950. He then attended the Vordingborg Seminarium in Denmark , after which he worked as a teacher in Nuuk from 1955 . In 1962 he became head of the information department of the school administration and finally in 1966 until his death he was school inspector in Nanortalik.

He showed an early interest in political events and was elected to the State Council for the first time in 1967 and was chairman of several committees. He was re-elected in 1971, but after a long illness he died unexpectedly in October 1972 at the age of 43. His successor in the Provincial Council was his representative Jørgen Poulsen , who died a year later in a helicopter crash and was succeeded by Marius Abelsen's second representative, Hendrik Nielsen .

Since September 20, 1959 he was married to the midwife Mette Louise Siegstad (1927–?), The daughter of the catechist and Provincial Councilor Isak Siegstad (1898–1943).
