Kaj Magnus Narup (born Nielsen ; born February 19, 1926 in Sønderborg ; † January 29, 1997 in Rødby ) was a Danish merchant and member of Grønlands Landsråd .

Life

Kaj Narup was born as Kaj Magnus Nielsen as the son of the customs officer Magnus Nielsen (1898–?) And his wife Lina Clementina Angelica Fuchs Renard (1899–?). His mother came from a circus family. Her father Maximilian Renard was born as Erechim Fuchs in Simferopol in the Crimea into a Jewish family. She was the great-aunt of the actor Martin Miehe-Renard .

Kaj Narup was a businessman in Greenland . He stood in the state council election in 1967 . Originally, it failed with too few votes when it entered the state council. The result was challenged, however, because several dozen votes had been declared invalid, although it was beyond doubt who the vote was for. The name of the candidate had to be written down by the voter himself and numerous people also wrote down the number and place of residence of the candidate on the list of candidates. The appeal was rejected twice before Landshøvding Niels Otto Christensen granted the appeal in the highest instance. With this, Kaj Narup overtook the candidate Thomas Berthels and received the seat of the state council as one of the few Danes in the history of the state council. He was convicted of an economic matter during the legislature. He challenged the verdict twice. After the national council had decided that while the proceedings were ongoing, Kaj Narup's membership in the national council was not to be revoked, but in the spring of 1969 he asked - in order not to burden politics - for his resignation, which was finally approved.

He died in Denmark in 1997 at the age of 70. His daughter is the politician Asii Chemnitz Narup (* 1954).
