Niels Carlo Heilmann

Niels Carlo Heilmann (actually Niels Iver Johannes Kristian Heilmann ; born May 18, 1927 in Maniitsoq ; † June 27, 1991 ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Atassut ) and fisherman .

Life

Heilmann was elected to the municipal administration of Maniitsoq municipality in 1959 for a four-year legislative term . From 1965 to 1979 he was chairman of the party-like fishermen and hunters organization KNAPK . In 1971 he was elected to Maniitsoq in Grønlands Landsråd . In 1975 he was re-elected. In 1979 the Landesrat was dissolved and replaced by the Inatsisartut . This had happened in the course of the increased autonomy rights of Greenland, the Hjemmestyre , on which Heilmann had been a member of the Hjemmestyre Commission four years earlier. As a member of the Atassut he was able to enter parliament. He was also elected in 1983, 1984 and 1987 before stepping down from parliament in March 1991 and passing away three and a half months later at the age of 64.

He was a member of the acquisition support committee , the administrative board of the KGH , the acquisition committee and the raw materials council.

In 1975 Heilmann was made a knight of the Order of Dannebrog . He was also awarded the silver Nersornaat on July 3, 1989 , and shortly before his death made an honorary citizen of his hometown Maniitsoq.

family

Niels Carlo was the son of Albrekt Hans Lars Heilmann (1901–1984) from Maniitsoq and his wife Helene Dorthea Bodil Platou (1904–1968) from the now abandoned Qipingasoq . He is a great-great-grandson of the inspector Arent Christopher Heilmann (1781-1830) and a great-great-great-grandson of the inspector Christian Alexander Platou (1779-1827).
