Konrad Steenholdt

Konrad Steenholdt (born February 21, 1942 in Qeqertarsuatsiaq ) is a Greenlandic politician and teacher .

Life

Konrad is the son of Andreas Lars Rasmus Filemon Steenholdt (1901–1980) and Louise Johanne Abelone Judithe Jeremiassen (1913–?). His grandfather was the Provincial Councilor Nathanael Steenholdt (1874-1919). His brothers Alibak (1934–2012) and Otto Steenholdt (1936–2016) were also politicians. On August 3, 1968, he married the Danish teacher Lise Jørgensen (* 1945).

Konrad Steenholdt attended Efterskole from 1957 to 1959 , finished secondary school in 1963 , spent a year at Krabbesholm Højskole in Skive , completed his teacher’s examination in Haderslev in 1968 and then worked there until 1971. He then taught in Qasigiannguit until 1989 and in Nuuk from 1990 to 1995 .

In 1975 he was chosen for Qasigiannguit in Grønlands Landsråd , in which his brother Otto was already sitting. After this legislative period, the Landesrat was dissolved and replaced by the Inatsisartut . As a member of the Atassut party , Konrad also managed to move in here. He was re-elected in 1983 as well as in 1984, 1987, 1991 and 1995. In his last legislative period he was Minister for Culture, Education and the Church under Prime Minister Lars Emil Johansen and from 1997 under Jonathan Motzfeldt . From 1989 to 1993 he was party chairman. From 1983 to 1990 he was a member of the municipal administration of the municipality of Qasigiannguit .

From 1979 to 1995 Konrad Steenholdt was an administrative member of Grønlandsfly . As a member of the Hjemmestyre Commission (1977–1979) he played a key role in the Hjemmestyre - Greenland's new autonomous status from 1979 onwards. From 1975 to 1979 he was also a member of the Scientific Research Commission. He was also director of Qasigiaq Travel .

On October 3, 1991 he was awarded the silver Nersornaat and in 1994 the Knight's Cross of the Dannebrog Order .
