Bendt Frederiksen

Bendt Frederiksen (born July 4, 1939 in Kullorsuaq , † June 8, 2012 in Nuussuaq ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Life

Bendt Frederiksen was the son of the catechist Moses Ole Sakæus Mathias Frederiksen (1913–?) And his wife Laurette Margrethe Johanne Frederikke Nielsen (1918–1975). On March 11, 1963, he married Marianne Kristensen (* 1940).

After graduating from school, he was raised to be a hunter. At the age of 15, he helped found the Blue Cross in Oqaatsut in 1954 , and then in Nuussuaq in 1961. In 1960 he founded the Nuussuaq hunters 'association and then a joint committee for all hunters' associations in the community. From 1962 to 1964 he was the community bailiff. From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the Upernavik Municipality Council . In 1975 he was elected to Upernavik in Grønlands Landsråd . He then sat for five legislative periods from 1979 to 1995 in the Inatsisartut , since 1991 as President of Parliament. From 1989 to 1991 he was again part of the Upernavik municipal administration. From 1987 to 1991 he sat in the civil service reform commission and from 1991 to 1994 in the municipal reform commission. He was also chairman of the social welfare committee and a member of numerous other committees.

In 1965 he received the award from the King Christian X and Queen Alexandrines Foundation. On October 3, 1991, he was awarded the Nersornaat in gold, and he also received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Danebro . In 1997 Prince Henrik , his son Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Alexandra were drinking coffee at Bendt Frederiksen's home. On June 8, 2012, he suddenly died of a cerebral hemorrhage while driving his grandson to school in Upernavik.
