The Nersornaat ( Greenlandic for what one is honorable with , Danish Grønlands Hjemmestyres Fortjenstmedalje ) is the Order of Merit of Greenland , which was introduced on May 1, 1989 as part of the tenth anniversary of the autonomous administration .

The Nersornaat can be awarded to Greenlanders, Danes and citizens of countries other than the Danish Kingdom. A prerequisite is a great contribution to Greenland in at least one of the areas of charitable work, profession, art, science, other. The medal can be awarded in gold or silver; The silver medal becomes the private property of the recipient, while the gold medal remains the property of the Greenlandic Autonomous Government.

The medal was designed by the Greenland artist Jens Rosing .

A municipal offshoot of the Nersornaat was introduced at the end of November 2019. In the municipality of Qeqertalik it can be awarded a maximum of once a year in each of the twelve locations, in exceptional cases several times. Like the national Nersornaat, it can be awarded to Greenlanders and foreigners who have made a contribution to the community. The order shows the coat of arms of the municipality of Qeqertalik, is silver and is located on a blue and white band according to the coat of arms colors.
