The municipality of Qeqertalik has been a Greenlandic municipality since January 1, 2018 with a population of around 6,500 inhabitants and an area of 62,400 km².
location
The municipality of Qeqertalik comprises the central western part of Greenland north of the Qeqqata Kommunia . While the Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is to the east, the Avannaata Kommunia is to the north .
history
In 2016 it was decided to dissolve Qaasuitsup Kommunia on January 1, 2018. The Qeqertalik municipality receives the four southern districts of the Qaasuitsup Kommunia, i.e. the districts Qeqertarsuaq , Qasigiannguit , Aasiaat and Kangaatsiaq .
