history

Qipingasoq was settled in the 18th century, but fell victim to the epidemic of 1785/86. In 1795 a yarn catching attempt was started in Qipingasoq. Five years later the place was given up again because of the smallpox epidemic in 1800. In 1803 some colonists came to Qipingasoq and resumed the attempt, which had to be given up again during the war from 1807 to 1814. In 1821 the place was uninhabited. In 1829 eight people were counted in Qipingasoq and in 1831 there were already 22 inhabitants. In 1843 the place received the Udsted status , but lost it again in 1846. In 1915, 29 people lived in Qipingasoq, including eight hunters, one of whom was also a catechist. In 1930 25 people lived in the village. In 1939 the residential space was given up. Qipingasoq belonged to the Kangaatsiaq community.
