location
Akulliit is located on an island of the same name eleven kilometers northeast of Kangaatsiaq .
history
Akulliit was already inhabited in the 18th century. The area was geologically examined by Carl Ludwig Giesecke in 1812 . The place was temporarily deserted and was only repopulated at an unknown point in time. Akulliit was in the Kangaatsiaq parish .
In 1915, 13 people lived at the place where they lived. They all lived together in a peat-walled house, which was clad with wood on the inside and had a roof made of driftwood and branches. There were four hunters, one of whom was also a catechist. In 1930 15 residents were counted. During the 1930s, the residential area was given up as no residents were named in 1940.
