Innalik [ inːalik ] (the old spelling Ivnalik ) is a desolate fallen Greenlandic settlement in the district Kangaatsiaq in the municipality Qeqertalik .

location

Innalik is located on the western tip of an island of the same name , one of the larger in the local archipelago. The closest place is Kangaatsiaq 15 km south.

history

Innalik was a very young place to live. It was said that Innalik was founded only because of quarrels among the residents of Qeqertarsuatsiaq and that diseases were rampant among the residents of Innalik. In 1911 Innalik's task in Grønlands Landsråd was proposed. The decision was postponed for the time being. In 1915, 42 people lived in four houses on the residential area. Eight of them were hunters and one of them was also a catechist. The question of resettlement was not raised again until 1916. Apparently the resettlement of the population was refused. Then attempts were made to persuade the residents to move voluntarily, but without success. In fact, the population even increased as some residents from Imerissoq moved in. In 1930 Innalik had 63 inhabitants. In 1932 a fish house was built. In 1952 the fishermen caught an average of about six tons of cod each. In the 1950s, Innalik had around 100 residents. In 1969 the place was given up.

Innalik belonged to the Kangaatsiaq community until 1950 . Then he came to the new Kangaatsiaq community .
