Tununngasoq [ tuˈnuŋːasɔq ] (according to the old spelling Tunúngassoĸ ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Kangaatsiaq in the municipality of Qeqertalik .

location

Tununngasoq is located on the north bank of the Ataneq . The closest location is three miles north of Iginniarfik .

history

In Tununngasoq there are ruins as evidence of ancient settlement. In 1831 there was a house on the spot where the Udsteds administrator of Iginniarfik ran yarn fishing in the autumn. Tununngasoq was inhabited in 1850. The place was probably abandoned again later and Tununngasoq was settled for the last time between 1897 and 1901. At the same time, the Teqqiinngaq residential area on the other side of the fjord disappeared . In 1915, 17 people lived in two houses in Tununngasoq, five of whom were hunters. One of them was also a catechist. In 1931 a school chapel was built and later 243 m² of fish houses. In 1950, 84 people lived in Tununngasoq. In 1970 there were only 24. In 1980 the last four residents left the place.
