Kalaallit Nunaanni Aalisartut Piniartullu Kattuffiat (old spelling Kalâtdlît Nunãne Aulisartut Piniartutdlo Kátuvfiat ; Association of fishermen and hunters in Greenland ), KNAPK for short , is a Greenlandic interest group of people involved in fishing and hunting . It is based in Nuuk .

history

KNAPP was on 10 June 1953 by fishermen and hunters along with representatives of the Royal Danish Grønlandske trade (KGH) and Landshøvding Poul Hugo Lundsteen under the name Kalaallit Nunaanni Aalisartut Piniartullu Peqatigiit (old spelling Kalâtdlit Nunãne Aulisartut Piniartutdlo Peĸatigît ; association of fishermen and hunters Greenland ). The background to the organization suggested by the KGH was that with the rapidly growing industrialization of Greenland meat and fish production after the Second World Warthere was no adequate representation of fishermen and hunters, especially at national level. Previously there were only local speakers who represented the interests of the traditionally employed. The KGH and the Danish state therefore lacked negotiating partners.

In the 1967 regional elections , KNAPP made a list with Niels Carlo Heilmann and Hans Holm , but the only mandate awarded for parties and lists could not be won with 3.0% of the votes. In 1971 a list was drawn up again. This time she received 6.5% of the votes and thus Niels Carlo Heilmann moved into the state council . Four years later, the list reached 7.5% of the votes in 1975 , but the two candidates Lamik Møller and Asiâjuk Sadorana received a seat on the state council through their personal votes. In 1979, with the introduction of the Inatsisartut , parties instead of lists appeared for the first time.

In 1981 KNAPP was renamed KNAPK. Around 1980 tensions intensified between the large number of private fishermen and the minority of those who worked with large fishing boats on the Greenland coast. In 1982 the Aalisartut Avataasiutillit Peqatigiiffiat (AAP) split off with the fishing companies and in the following year the Aalisartut Avataasiutillit Katuffiat (AAK), in which the private large fishermen were. Both associations merged in 1989 to form Avataasiutinik Piginneqatigiiffiit Kattuffiat (APK).

aims

KNAPK serves to represent and support the interests of small-scale private fishermen and hunters vis-à-vis the government. In addition, the association aims to improve trading conditions, train its members and inform them about technical innovations. Further goals are the modernization of the ports and the improvement of infrastructure and logistics.
