General election in Greenland in 1971
On April 16, 1971, elections to Grønlands Landsråd were held for the sixth time . The number of eligible voters was 21,610, the turnout 67.7%.
Suffrage
In each of the 16 constituencies, there were two to thirteen candidates for election, of which the candidate with the highest number of votes ( relative majority ) was elected. In addition, a compensation mandate could be obtained for a party or list if their candidates together achieved more than one sixteenth of the valid votes cast. No parties ran for this election, but a few lists. However, as in the previous elections, most of the candidates were independent individual candidates.
Starting position
In Landsråd in Greenland, elected in 1967, there were 16 independent members and one representative of the Inuit party (Ip), which did not run again in 1971. The regional council chairman was Erling Høegh .
