In the parliamentary elections in Greenland in 2002 on December 3, all 31 seats in the Inatsisartut or Landsting, the Greenland parliament , had to be filled. There were a total of six parties.

Starting position

As a result of the result of the last parliamentary election, the Motzfeldt VII cabinet was formed in 1999 under the leadership of Jonathan Motzfeldt (Siumut), which held office for the entire legislative period until the Inatsisartut was re-elected.

Result

The social democratic party Siumut was again the strongest force . For the first time, the Democrats took part. The Social Liberal Party immediately won 16.1% of the vote and took five seats in Inatsisartut. The Inuit Ataqatigiit and Atassut were able to roughly hold their results with slight gains or losses. The big loser was the Kattusseqatigiit Partiiat . The conservative party lost three of its four previous parliamentary seats.
