In the parliamentary elections in Greenland in 1995 on March 4th, 31 seats in the Inatsisartut or Landsting, the Greenland parliament, were filled for the first time . In the previous election there were only 27 seats available.

Starting position

Lars-Emil Johansen (Siumut) has been Prime Minister of Greenland since the parliamentary elections in 1991 . He headed the Johansen I cabinet until the end of the legislative period .

Result

The social democratic party Siumut was again the strongest faction in the Inatsisartut, followed by the Atassut and the Inuit Ataqatigiit . The center party Akulliit Partiiat held its two seats in parliament, while the Issittup Partiia failed to re- enter .
