Pavia Nielsen

Pavia Nielsen (born July 28, 1936 in Qaarsut ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Pavia Nielsen is the son of the hunter Hans Severin Thomas Mathias Nielsen (1891–?) And his second wife Karen Sofie Eunike Regine Qvist (1904–?). He had four siblings and two half-siblings from his father's first marriage. He was brought up to be a hunter at a young age and his father refused him a higher education so that he could concentrate on the hunt. Together with his wife Emma, ​​whom he married in 1961, he has three daughters and one son.

Pavia Nielsen was a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Uummannaq from 1963 to 1967 and then again from 1971 to 1975. From 1973 to 1989 he was a member of the headquarters of the Hunters and Fishermen Association KNAPK . In 1979 he sat in the first inatsisartut . He was also re-elected in 1983 and 1984, but was not represented from 1987 to 1991, before he was a member of parliament for the last time until 1995.

On January 18, 1994 he received the Nersornaat in silver. He is also a holder of the Royal Medal of Merit, as are his father, his brother Jakob and his sister Louise.
