Poul Hugo Lundsteen

Poul Hugo Lundsteen (born July 18, 1910 in Solbjerg Sogn , Frederiksberg , † November 24, 1988 ) was a Danish lawyer , civil servant and Landshøvding of Greenland .

Life

In 1934 Poul Hugo Lundsteen graduated from the University of Copenhagen as a lawyer . He then worked as a court agent in Aalborg and as a secretary in the Indenrigsministeriet . In 1943 he was promoted to plenipotentiary, in 1946 to expedition secretary and in 1949 to office manager. As early as 1940 he was a lawyer at Greenland's highest court . From 1948 to 1950 he worked for the Danish gambling company from the time it was founded. From 1949 to 1950 he was vice-chairman of the Pharmacy Commission. In 1950 he became head of the civil protection administration and member of the civil protection council and also the first Landshøvding of the united Greenland. He held this office until 1960. Only from 1955 to 1956 he was represented by Niels Otto Christensen , who had been Landsfoged and Landshøvding before and after. During his time as Landshøvding, he was also chairman of the National Council , which made him a member of a number of Greenlandic committees. In 1960 he became chairman of Lollandsbanen . In 1963 he became a member of the Interior Ministry's chiropractic commission. Further committee memberships followed in the next year. In 1970 he became chairman of the Danish private railways agency. From 1960 he was also a pen office man and bailiff in Maribo . In 1970 he moved to Storstrøms office , where he stayed until he retired in 1980. He was made an honorary citizen of Nuuk for his outstanding work in the post-war period in Greenland . For this he was from 1949 Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog , 1954 Knight 1st Class , 1960 Commander and from 1969 Commander 1st class .

family

Poul Hugo Lundsteen was the son of the credit union director Hugo Lundsteen (1869-1948) and the painter Elisabeth Charlotte "Lilli" Ramsing (1872-1949). He married Agnete Bruun (1911–1951) in 1935 and, after her death in 1952, Aase Brynildsen (* 1931). The first marriage resulted in daughter Anette Elisabeth Lundsteen (* 1939), who married the politician Søren Krarup (* 1937), a distant relative of Sophus Theodor Krarup-Smith , who was an inspector of Greenland for 15 years in the 19th century. The sons Morten and Steffen come from the second marriage.
