Hans J. Lassen

Hans Jacob Lassen (born August 16, 1926 in Gevninge Sogn ; † December 8, 2011 ) was a Danish lawyer , civil servant and Landshøvding from Greenland .

Hans J. Lassen graduated from Frederiksborg High School in 1945 . In 1953 he completed a law degree as a candidate . In the same year he became secretary at the Grønlandsdepartement . In 1956 he became a lawyer . From 1956 to 1958 he was the agent of Greenland under the administration of Poul Hugo Lundsteen . From 1958 to 1964 he was ministerial secretary and then first plenipotentiary, then bureau chief of the Greenland Ministry . From 1973 to 1979 he was the last Landshøvding in Greenland. After the Hjemmestyre was granted to Greenland , he became a bailiff in North Jylland and a canon in the diocese of Aalborg until 1981 . He was then a state official in Nordjylland and then again until 1996 in Aalborg.

He was the first class commander of the Dannebrog Order and chamberlain .

Hans J. Lassen's parents were the inspector Henrik Kristian Otto Lassen (1887–1974) and Signe Skovgaard (1895–1985). Through his mother he was a grandson of the painter Joakim Frederik Skovgaard (1856–1933) and a great-grandson of the botanist Johan Martin Christian Lange (1818–1898). His great, great, great-uncle was the botanist Jens Wilken Hornemann (1770–1841). In 1954 he married Hanne Metz (1930-2013), the daughter of Paul Metz and Else Rubow. The sons Steen David and Ulrik Joakim emerged from the marriage.
