Lollandsbanen
Lollandsbanen (German: Lollandsbahn ) was Denmark's oldest private railway on the island of Lolland . Today only the Nykøbing F – Nakskov railway line , which opened in 1874, is still in operation.
history
The history of the Lollands Railway began on August 22, 1872, when the Nykøbing – Orehoved line was opened. This 22.4 kilometer route was transferred to the Danske Statsbaner (DSB) on January 1, 1893 . On July 1, 1886, the 22.8 kilometer long Nykøbing – Gedser line was opened, which was transferred to DSB on January 1, 1893. At the same time as the main route from Nykøbing Falster via Maribo to Nakskov , which is still in operation , the 14.4 kilometer route from Maribo to Rødby was opened. This route was extended on July 27, 1912 by 5.2 kilometers to Rødbyhavn. The Maribo – Rødbyhavn line was closed on May 28, 1963, as DSB opened the Nykøbing – Rødby færge route as part of the Vogelfluglinie .
Furthermore, the Lollandsbahn operated the Maribo – Tørrig Jernbane , Nakskov – Kragenæs Jernbane and Nakskov – Rødby Jernbane .
As of January 1, 2009, the newly founded company Regionstog A / S (RT) took over the operation of the private railway lines in the Zealand region from Lollandsbanen and Vestsjællands Lokalbaner and Østbanen .
On July 1, 2015, Regionstog and Lokalbanen merged to form the new company Lokaltog , which comprises all former private railways on Zealand and Lolland.
