The Royal Greenland A / S is a fishing - and fish processing -Unternehmen from Greenland . The company has its own fishing fleet and 38 production facilities in Greenland and ten in Europe and Canada. The company is 100% state-owned in Greenland.

history

In 1774 the Danish state founded Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel (German: Royal Greenland Trading Company , KGH). In 1979 responsibility for trade on the island was transferred to the Greenland government. Royal Greenland was chosen as the company and brand name .

Production facilities

Europe

  • The factory in Aalborg in Denmark specializes in shrimp.
  • There are two plants in operation in Cuxhaven , Germany, one producing lumpfish roe in jars, the other salmon, plaice and cod in plastic bags.
  • Plaice, flounder and black halibut are filleted and packaged for the European market in Koszalin , Poland .

Former Royal Greenland factory in Wilhelmshaven

In Rustersiel (district of Wilhelmshaven ), Royal Greenland Seafood GmbH operated a plant until September 2013 for the production of - mostly frozen - foods from seafood and fish, etc. a. Fish fingers . The plant had around 400 employees and a capacity of 80,000 t / year. It was sold to a group of investors from Singapore who continue to operate it as Greenland Seafood Wilhelmshaven GmbH . Royal Greenland stated that it wanted to concentrate on Greenland and the North Atlantic. One of the two investors, the Meridian Investment Group, is wholly owned and managed by a member of the Ng family, who control the Asian fish company Pacific Andes ; the second investor, the Sahara Investment Group, which owns more than 70% of the shares, is wholly owned and managed by Russian Oleg Sizov, a former employee of Pacific Andes, who also owns other fish companies in Russia and Asia.
