The Motzfeldt IV cabinet was the fourth government in Greenland . It was formed after the 1987 election to the Inatsisartut .

Emergence

In March 1987, the relationship in the existing coalition between Siumut and Inuit Ataqatigiit came to a head, as both parties too often had different views. Rumors arose that the Siumut wanted to remove the two ministers of the IA, Aqqaluk Lynge and Josef Motzfeldt , from their offices and replace them with the Siumut politicians Agnethe Davidsen and Jens Lyberth . After talks with the Atassut that would support a minority government of the Siumut under Jonathan Motzfeldt failed, the latter called new elections on March 10th, which were scheduled for May 26th. For the third time in a row, Siumut and Atassut received exactly the same number of places in Inatsisartut. This time the Atassut was again the party that achieved 0.3% more votes, while in 1984 the Siumut was able to achieve 0.3% more. A week after the election, Siumut and Inuit Ataqatigiit approached again and only argued about the distribution and number of ministries. A few days later, all ministerial posts in the new coalition were finally announced.
