The Kielsen V cabinet was the 23rd government in Greenland . It was the continuation of the previous minority government after the Atassut left the cabinet.
Origin and existence
The Kielsen IV cabinet had only existed since October 2018 and was itself the remainder of the government formed after the parliamentary elections in Greenland in May 2018 . On April 9, 2018, Atassut left the government. Aqqalu Jerimiassen , Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, had been expressed the distrust of the majority of the parties because he had privately expressed his opinion that climate change was not man-made. Siverth K. Heilmann resigned at the same time and it was reported from the party that the work in government had not been satisfactory for the Atassut. On the same day, the Minister of Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture, Nikolaj Jeremiassen der Siumut , who had also been informed of Parliament's distrust, resigned.
From the original coalition of four of the Kielsen III cabinet , two parties remained, as well as the Demokraatit , which had expressed mistrust in the two ministers, but which for the time being had agreed to continue to support the minority government. On April 10, 2019, Prime Minister Kim Kielsen introduced two new ministers to replace them, but kept one of the vacant departments himself. On November 22, 2019, Erik Jensen resigned from the cabinet. His departments were redistributed to the other ministers.
On May 29, 2020, the cabinet was replaced by the Kielsen VI cabinet , with the Demokraatit giving up its role as a support party and becoming part of the government.
