Erik Jensen (politician)

Erik Jensen (born July 15, 1975 in Sisimiut ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Life

Erik Jensen attended the Nalunnguarfiup Atuarfia school in Sisimiut from 1981 to 1992. He then went to high school in Aasiaat until 1995 . From 1997 to 1999 he studied at Niuernermik Ilinniarfik in Qaqortoq . He then worked in various administrative jobs in Sisimiut and Copenhagen until 2017 .

He ran in the 2015 Folketing election , but could not get either of the two seats. In 2017 he took part in the local elections as chairman of the Siumut in Sisimiut and was elected to the local council of Qeqqata Kommunia . Just a few weeks later in April 2017, he was appointed Minister for Municipalities, Villages, External Districts, Infrastructure and Housing in Naalakkersuisut , without having previously sat in Inatsisartut .

In the general election in 2018 Erik Jensen of joined and was elected with 424 votes. He was then reappointed to Naalakkersuisut, this time as Minister for Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture in the Kielsen III cabinet . When Vivian Motzfeldt was elected chairman of parliament on October 3rd, Erik Jensen took over the education, culture and church departments from her for two days on an interim basis. He was then appointed Minister for Raw Materials and Labor Market in the Kielsen IV cabinet . In the same month he took over the health, social affairs and justice departments from Doris J. Jensen on an interim basis for a week . Between November 2018 and March 2019 he was also temporarily Minister for Nature, Environment and Research for Siverth K. Heilmann . After Atassut left the government in April 2019, Erik Jensen was interim Minister for Fisheries, Hunting and Agriculture for one day, but otherwise kept his actual resources and labor market in the Kielsen V cabinet . On November 22, 2019, he resigned as minister and took his seat in parliament.

Erik Jensen is involved in handball in Greenland and has already worked as a voluntary trainer or board member at numerous clubs. From 2013 to 2015 he was also a member of the supervisory board of Grønlands Håndbold Forbund .

He has three daughters with his wife Heidi Ramsøe.
