Vivian Motzfeldt

Dorthe Kathrine Vivian Motzfeldt (born June 10, 1972 ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ) and teacher .

Life

Vivian Motzfeldt is the daughter of Christian Motzfeldt and his wife Ruth. She grew up in a shepherd family in South Greenland in Upernaviarsuk . She is married to the politician Jørgen Wæver Johansen (* 1972), with whom she has four children.

Vivian Motzfeldt attended high school in Qaqortoq from 1989 to 1993 , interrupted by a year abroad in the United States . From 1994 to 1997 she trained as a teacher at Ilinniarfissuaq and then worked for a year at Nuussuup Atuarfia in Nuuk , before studying cultural and social history at the University of Greenland from 1998 to 2000 . From 2002 to 2003 she was a teacher at the GUX in Nuuk and then until 2005 at the Matu educational project , which aims to rehabilitate violent young people. She then taught at Ukaliusaq in Nuuk until 2007. From 2010 to 2014 she was a teacher at the Kujalleq campus in Qaqortoq.

She ran for a place in the Inatsisartut for the first time in the 2005 parliamentary election , but received only 57 votes. In the 2007 Folketing election , she missed a place in the Folketing with 263 votes . The next time she did not run again until 2014 in an election. With 153 votes she came in second place. Since several elected Siumut politicians moved up into the Naalakkersuisut , Vivian Motzfeldt moved up into parliament. There she became a member of the Security and Foreign Affairs Committee and the Culture, Education, Research and Church Committee. In 2017 she was appointed chairman of the constitutional commission and a member of the board of directors and business committee of Siumut. In the 2018 parliamentary election , she received 206 votes and was able to move into parliament again. She was then appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs, Education, Culture and the Church in the Kielsen III cabinet. After the cabinet broke up again that same year, she was appointed chairman of the Inatsisartut on October 3, 2018, succeeding Hans Enoksen .
