Hans Pavia Rosing

Hans Pavia Rosing (born June 22, 1948 in Nuuk ; † July 9, 2018 ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ).

Life

The son of Nikolaj Rosing (1912–1976) and Marie Ane Bodil Lynge (1911–2008) graduated from secondary school in 1965, then studied at a translation school in Copenhagen and completed an IT training in 1970. From 1973 to 1977 he was an administrative member of the Council of Young Greenlanders, from 1974 onwards as Vice-Chairman. In 1975 he co-founded the World Council of Indigenous Peoples , where he was an administrative member from 1977 to 1980. From 1975 to 1977 he was an administrative member of the Greenland Advisory Office in Copenhagen. At the same time he was also an administrative member of the House of Greenlanders in Copenhagen. From 1977 to 1979 he was a consultant and then head of the secretariat at the Greenland Information Network for one year. He then headed the information department of the Greenlandic Hjemmestyre . From 1980 to 1986 he was President of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference . From 1982 to 1986 he was an administrative member of the Greenland Publishing House. From 1988 to 1992 he was chairman of the Greenland Tannery, from 1988 to 1996 chairman of the House of Greenlanders, from 1988 to 1991 an administrative member of the IUCN and from 1989 to 1992 of the Parliamentarians for Global Action . He was also a member of the board of the Danish organization Nature and People in the North from 1994 and from 1995 to 1998 in Knud Rasmussens Højskole in Sisimiut . From 1997 he was a member of the committee of the Greenland Culture House Katuaq and a member of the Peary Land Foundation, the Greenland Foundation, the Greenland-Danish Culture Foundation and chairman of the Danish-Greenland delegation at the Conference of Parliamentarians of the Arctic Region .

In 1983 he was elected to the Inatsisartut , which only existed in this composition until 1984. In February 1986, Rosing was appointed to the Naalakkersuisut as Minister of Economics, without membership of parliament, to succeed Moses Olsen . He also sat in the next cabinet as Minister of Economics, but was replaced by Emil Abelsen in September 1987 because he was elected to the Folketing , where he remained until 2001. During his parliamentary term, he was on several committees. In the Siumut he was treasurer from 1984 to 1986 and member of the main administration from 1984 to 1996. In 1993 he was chairman of the Danish General Assembly delegation to the United Nations , after having been an ordinary member the two years before.

In 1965 he was co-author of the play Fiasko 65 . In 1976 he co-wrote the television film Den Blåøjede Satan , in which he also played the lead role. In 1985 he received the Greenland Peace Prize. He was also an honorary citizen of Nuuk. On December 27, 2007 he was given the silver Nersornaat .

Together with his wife, the vice-school inspector Esther (* 1954), Hans Pavia Rosing had sons Jakob, Rasmus and Malik. He died on July 9, 2018 at the age of 70 from complications caused by a thrombus .
