The Tillich III cabinet formed the Saxon state government from November 13, 2014 to December 13, 2017 . In the election for the 6th parliament of Saxony on 31 August 2014, since 1990 continuously reigning suffered CDU of Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich for the fourth consecutive loss of votes and received 39.4 percent of the valid second votes the slightest encouragement since the first state election in 1990 . Since its previous coalition partner, the FDP, left the state parliament , the CDU formed a coalition with the SPD , as it did between 2004 and 2009 . Together, the government alliance has a majority of 77 of the 126 state parliament mandates vis-à-vis the three opposition parties Die Linke , AfD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .
In the 2nd session of the 6th Saxon State Parliament on November 12, 2014, the Saxon Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich, who has been in office since 2008, was re-elected to this office with 74 votes in favor, 50 against and one abstention . The next day the government members appointed by him were sworn in before the state parliament.
