Andrea Fischer (politician, 1961)

Andrea Fischer (born May 29, 1961 in Essen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2008 to December 2017 she was State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and had previously worked as State Secretary in various Saxon ministries since 2002.

Life

After graduating from high school in Essen, Fischer completed a law degree at the University of Bayreuth by 1984/1985 , followed by the legal clerkship and in 1987 the second state examination in law . From 1987 to 1990 Fischer worked as a research assistant at the University of Bayreuth and during this time undertook a six-month research stay in Malawi .

In 1990 she joined the regional government of Upper Franconia and was delegated to the Plauen District Office as legal advisor . In the spring of 1991, Fischer became head of department in the newly formed regional council in Dresden . In November of the same year, Fischer was elected district councilor in the district of Kamenz by the Kamenz district council and was confirmed in this office in the primary election in December 1995.

Fischer is a member of the CDU. On July 15, 2002, she was appointed State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labor . After the state elections in 2004 and the formation of a black-red state government, this department went to the SPD . Fischer first moved to the Saxon State Chancellery as State Secretary , then in October 2007 she moved to the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior . When Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich took office , Fischer became State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs on June 18, 2008, replacing Albert Hauser , who was put into temporary retirement. When the cabinet was formed by the new Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer , Fischer was replaced as State Secretary by Regina Kraushaar .

In the state elections in Saxony in 2004, Fischer was a direct candidate for the CDU in the Hoyerswerda constituency , but was unable to prevail against Dietmar Jung ( PDS ).
