Uwe Gaul

Uwe Gaul (* 1963 in Münster ) is a German civil servant and politician ( SPD ). Since December 2019 he has been State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion .

Life

After studying educational science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg , the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and at the University of Hamburg and graduating as a graduate educational scientist in 1989, Gaul was among other things deputy director of the adult education center in the Cloppenburg district between 1989 and 2002 as well as director of the adult education center in Flensburg .

In 2002 he became head of the Department of Culture, Youth, School and Sport of the City of Flensburg and held this position until the beginning of 2009. In February 2009, Gaul moved to the school authorities in Hamburg, where he was responsible for the nationwide expansion of Hamburg's all-day school system as a senior school councilor.

In December 2014, Minister of State Eva-Maria Stange appointed Uwe Gaul as State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art in the Tillich III cabinet . He succeeded Henry Hasenpflug . In December 2019, Gaul was appointed State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion under Minister of State Petra Köpping .

He is a member of the SPD and was the regional chairman of the Hamburg Working Group for Educational Issues and a member of the social democratic community for local politics.

Private

Gaul is married and has two children.
