Viktor Aleksandrovich Maslow ( Russian Виктор Александрович Маслов ; born April 27, 1910 in Moscow , † May 11, 1977 ibid) was a Soviet footballer and football coach.
life and career
Maslow won the Soviet championship several times with the teams he supervised ( Torpedo Moscow , Dynamo Kiev , FC Ararat Yerevan ).
As a football teacher, Maslow is considered to be an essential founder of modern football and the inventor of the 4-4-2 system and pressing . Jonathan Wilson writes about him in his history of football tactics “Revolution on the pitch”: “If you wanted to call one man the father of modern football, then it would be Viktor Maslow” .
