Andrea Franke

Andrea Franke (born March 7, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German administrative officer and judge. Since December 2019 she has been State Secretary in the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism .

Life

After graduating from high school, Franke trained as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk, then studied law in her hometown. She then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for International Affairs (IIA) at the University of Hamburg . She then worked in Hamburg as a criminal judge and at the administrative court .

As a result of the reunification of Germany , she came to Saxony in 1991 and worked in the Ministry of Justice in Dresden until 1997 . In 1998 she switched to the Saxon Higher Administrative Court in Bautzen and was presiding judge at the Chemnitz Administrative Court the following year . After another year, she became head of department in the Ministry of Justice in 2000. From 2001 to 2005 she worked again at the Higher Administrative Court, before she was Vice President at the Dresden Administrative Court from 2005 to 2008 .

Since 2008 she has been working again in the Ministry of Justice. Until her appointment as State Secretary, she headed Department II, which is responsible for public law, among other things. Furthermore, she was President of the State Judicial Examination Office . From November 2014 to December 2019 she was State Secretary under State Minister Sebastian Gemkow in the Saxon State Ministry of Justice. In December 2019 she was appointed State Secretary for Science in the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism .
