- Buenos Aires / Argentina : After the mysterious death of Special Prosecutor Alberto Nisman , federal judge and human rights expert Daniel Rafecas is to examine allegations against President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner , who wanted to thwart the prosecution of alleged Iranian masterminds of the attack on the AMIA Jewish community center in 1994 .
- Dili / Timor : In a letter to President Taur Matan Ruak ranges Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão in his resignation. Earlier this week he had started talks with the head of state about reshuffling the government following corruption allegations against several ministers. Gusmão's preferred candidate for his successor is Rui Maria de Araújo .

- N'Djamena / Chad : For the first time since the Chadian army intervened to fight the Islamist terrorist militia Boko Haram, it raided Ngouboua, a Chadian village on the shores of Lake Chad , killing ten residents.
- Peshawar / Pakistan : A Taliban attack on a Shiite mosque kills at least 19 people and injures 40 others.

The AfD reached 6.1% from now on and is represented in a West German state parliament for the first time. The voter turnout fell to a new low of 56.5%. With this election the SPD loses its absolute majority and has to look for a coalition partner.
- Copenhagen / Denmark : After the attack the previous day, a police guard protecting a bar mitzvah celebration in the rear building dies in an exchange of fire that night in front of a synagogue in the center of the Danish capital . In the morning, the police shot the perpetrator of both terrorist-motivated attacks .
- Lampedusa / Italy : Around 2000 African refugees are rescued off the coast of Lampedusa.
- Sirte / Libya : The publication of a video shows the murder of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christian guest workers by an offshoot of the terrorist organization Islamic State . The guest workers were kidnapped weeks ago in the Sirte area. Egypt's President as-Sisi imposed a seven-day state mourning. With this act, the Islamic State tries to stir up hatred between Egyptian Christians and Muslims. Egypt temporarily reserves the right to intervene in the increasingly unstable situation in the neighboring country .
- Vikersund / Norway : The Norwegian ski jumper Anders Fannemel sets a new world record in ski flying with a width of 251.5 meters .

The new government wants to bring the country closer to the European Union politically and economically . The Transnistria conflict is seen as the main problem . Higher prices for Russian gas and a ban on the import of Moldovan wines, vegetables and meat in Russia are also significant.
- Port-au-Prince / Haiti : 16 people die in a serious electrical accident during a carnival parade, another 78 people are injured.
