- Stepanakert / Azerbaijan : In the parliamentary elections in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic , the Free Homeland party becomes the strongest force with eleven seats. The Democratic Party of Arzach and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation each receive four mandates . The European Union does not recognize the elections.

- Bützow / Germany : A tornado of magnitude F3 causes property damage in the small Mecklenburg town of millions. In addition, 30 people are injured.
- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The German train drivers' union begins a six-day strike in passenger transport , the longest in the history of Deutsche Bahn .
- Jakarta / Indonesia : After numerous abuse and because of poor working conditions in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries , the Indonesian government forbids its citizens to travel to the Middle East as guest workers .
- Kokopo / Papua New Guinea : An earthquake of intensity 7.5 M w with the epicenter 130 km south-southwest of Kokopo and a depth of 55 km leads to smaller property damage. The triggered tsunami warning is quickly canceled.

- Jerusalem / Israel : More than a month and a half after the Israeli parliamentary election , the previous Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Likud forms a right-wing religious government with a narrow majority. The coalition includes its own party alliance Kulanu , Jüdisches Heim (settler party) and the two religious parties United Torah-Judaism and Shas . The Palestinians are concerned about the peace process as the new government is against peace and the principle of the two-state solution.

- London / United Kingdom : In the election to the House ( "House of Commons") which wins Conservative Party of Prime Minister David Cameron the most votes. Your coalition partner, the Liberal Democrats under Nick Clegg , suffered massive losses. Opposition leader Ed Miliband also falls short of his own expectations with the Labor Party, especially in England and Wales . In Scotland , the Scottish National Party under Nicola Sturgeon accounts for almost all of the seats to be awarded.
- New Delhi / India : The Lok Sabha , first chamber of the Indian parliament, approves the Indian-Bangladeshi border treaty , which is thus ratified.

- Guatemala City / Guatemala : The Guatemalan Vice President Roxana Baldetti submits her resignation after a corruption scandal.
- Moscow / Russia : Russian President Vladimir Putin and China's President Xi Jinping agree closer cooperation in the military and civil aviation sectors. In addition, Russian companies and banks receive financial aid from the neighboring country, as these are largely cut off from the capital market due to western sanctions resulting from the war in Ukraine .
- Naltar / Pakistan : At least six people died when an Mi-17 military helicopter was allegedly shot down by a Taliban SAM-7 anti-aircraft missile in the province of Gilgit-Baltistan . Among the victims of the helicopter are the two pilots as well as the two ambassadors Leif Larsen from Norway and the ambassador of the Philippines , Domingo Lucenario Jr., the Polish ambassador Andrzej Ananiczolish and the Dutch ambassador Marcel de Vink are injured.
- South Pacific : The Russian Progress M-27M spacecraft burns up over the South Pacific west of Chile.

- Kumanovo / Macedonia : During a raid, the police are shot at by snipers and attacked with grenades and automatic weapons. In the shootings between Macedonian police forces and a previously unknown armed group in a district where the majority of the population is Albanian , five police officers die and dozen are injured. At the end of the day, the group was "neutralized" with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
- Monrovia / Liberia : The World Health Organization declares Liberia free of ebola . Thousands celebrate the announcement in the capital, Monrovia.
- Seville / Spain : During a test flight, an Airbus A400M military transport aircraft crashes near Seville airport . Four people died and two others were seriously injured.

- Bremen / Germany : The SPD is again the strongest force in the general election , but has to accept significant losses. The largest opposition party, the CDU , wins easily. While the Greens lose half of their votes, the left wins significantly and can almost double its share of the vote. The FDP and, for the first time, the AfD also make it into parliament . The BiW gets a mandate. Turnout is historically low. As a consequence of his party's loss of votes, Mayor Jens Böhrnsen announced on the following day that he would no longer run for the office of head of government.
- Kumanovo / Macedonia : The armed conflict continues for the second day in a row. The number of police officers killed rises to eight and another 37 police officers are injured. According to the Macedonian Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska, 14 “terrorists” have been killed. Meanwhile, the Macedonian government has declared May 10 and 11 a day of mourning. - London / United Kingdom : Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh publishes the investigative report The Killing of Osama Bin Laden , which contradicts the United States government's narrative about the killing of Osama bin Laden , and has been criticized as a result.
- Warsaw / Poland : In the presidential election none of the candidates achieved an absolute majority. The national conservative challenger Andrzej Duda is a good percentage point ahead of incumbent Bronisław Komorowski with 34.7% of the vote . This means that there will be a runoff between the two candidates on May 24th.

- Georgetown / Guyana : In the parliamentary elections, the opposition alliance of former General David Granger wins more votes than the ruling party of incumbent President Donald Ramotar . The latter calls for the votes to be recounted. Guyana is probably facing a change of power.
- Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia : A refugee crisis is worsening in Southeast Asia . Around 8,000 refugees, mostly members of the Muslim Rohingya minority from Myanmar , have been floating at sea for weeks. In Malaysia and Indonesia , over 1,500 refugees, emaciated by vitamin deficiency, come ashore and are taken to internment camps as illegal migrants . The Indonesian Navy sends a boat with refugees back to the high seas because they don't want to go to Indonesia. Thai people smugglers in particular are trying to smuggle the refugees into Malaysia.
- New York / United States : On an auction by Christie's , the 1955 by Pablo Picasso created paintings The Women of Algiers for the bid of 179.4 million US dollars sold to an unknown bidder and is now the most expensive painting in the world.

- Chautara / Nepal : In an aftershock of magnitude 7.3 at a depth of ten kilometers near Namche Bazar, at least 40 people in Nepal and 17 others in India die . - Kabul / Afghanistan : At least five people are killed in an attack on the Park Palace Hotel, which is often visited by foreigners, or the concert by the famous Afghan singer Altaf Husain, followed by a seven-hour hostage-taking. The Islamist militia Taliban is committed to the attack.

- Berlin / Germany : With a 2-1 win in the final against Paris Saint-Germain , 1. FFC Frankfurt wins the UEFA Women's Champions League .
- Mannheim / Germany : The live finale of the German ProSieben television show Germany's Next Topmodel in the SAP Arena is canceled due to a bomb threat .

- Al-Qatif / Saudi Arabia : 21 people were killed and 123 injured in a suicide attack by the Islamic State terrorist organization on the Shiite Imam Ali mosque in the Al Qudaih district, around 30 kilometers from Dammam Airport .
- Dublin / Ireland : The referendum on the legalization of same-sex marriages and a constitutional amendment achieved an approval of 62.1 percent of the votes cast, with a turnout of over 60 percent.
- Michoacán / Mexico : Two policemen and 37 people are killed in shootings between the Mexican federal police and armed civilians in Tanhuato, a town dominated by a drug cartel.
- Popayán / Colombia : The Colombian armed forces attack a camp of the Marxist guerrilla movement FARC-EP with around 600 soldiers and air support in the Departamento del Cauca and kill 26 guerrillas. President Juan Manuel Santos ordered the attack in the mining province as a total of 11 soldiers were killed in an attack by the FARC in Cauca in April. The FARC lifted the unilateral ceasefire that had existed since December 20, 2014 after the attack.

- Addis Ababa / Ethiopia : Even before the final results of the parliamentary elections were announced, the opposition party Semeyawi described them as neither free nor fair and therefore undemocratic. - Padang Besar / Malaysia : The Malaysian police discovered 28 traffickers' camps and 139 graves on the border with Thailand , in which allegedly Muslim refugees from Myanmar (the persecuted minority of the Rohingya ) and Bangladesh were buried. Some of the jungle camps in a remote mountain region are said to have existed for more than five years, explains the Malaysian Interior Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The arrests by the Zurich canton police in the Hotel Baur au Lac were made on the basis of allegations of money laundering, the acceptance of bribes and corruption in the FIFA World Cup awards and TV rights.
- Moscow / Russian Federation : The Russian Foreign Ministry gives several EU delegations a visa blacklist . It lists 89 European politicians, military and businesspeople who are banned from entering Russia. The European Union criticizes the list as "arbitrary, opaque and unjustified".
- Warsaw / Poland : FC Sevilla win the UEFA Europa League by beating FK Dnipro 3-2 in the final .

- Helsinki / Finland : After the Center Party's victory in the parliamentary elections in April , Juha Sipilä is elected as the new Prime Minister of Finland . His government is presented the following day.
- Lincoln / United States : The Nebraska Legislature is 30 to 19 in favor of abolishing the death penalty in the US state of Nebraska and overriding a veto by Republican Governor Pete Ricketts .

- Ariha / Syria : Rebels of the Jaish al-Fatah military alliance conquer the city of Ariha in the Syrian civil war . The Syrian armed forces and the allied Lebanese Hezbollah militia as well as Iranian fighters are withdrawing from the city.
- Sirte / Libya : The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) takes control of the city of Sirte again and conquers the Gardabya air force base for the first time . They drive out fighters from Brigade 166 , which is allied with the Islamist Fajr Libiya .
- Washington, DC / United States : The US administration under Barack Obama removes Cuba from the list of countries supporting terrorism . Cuba was added to the list in 1982 because it supported members of the Basque underground organization Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) and the Colombian Marxist guerrilla group Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), among others .
- Basel / Switzerland : The defending champions FC Basel are officially Swiss football champions 2015 .

- Maiduguri / Nigeria : A suicide bombing kills 26 people and injures another 28 in a mosque in Maiduguri.
- Milan / Italy : The overall winner of the 98th edition of the wheel - stage race Giro d'Italia goes to the Spaniard Alberto Contador . He has won this tour twice in his career, but lost a title because of a subsequent doping ban.
- Reykjavík / Iceland : The largest ice tunnel in Europe, 500 meters long and 30 meters deep, will open under the Langjökull glacier on June 1st.
- Rome / Italy : In the regions of Veneto , Liguria , Umbria , Tuscany , Marche , Campania and Apulia , 20 million Italians are called to vote for regional parliaments. In around 1000 municipalities, including Mantua , Venice and Agrigento , elections for the office of mayor take place at the same time.
- Vienna / Austria : Defending champion RB Salzburg is officially Austrian football champion 2015 .
