Monday 1st June 2015
- Jianli / China : The river cruise ship Dong Fang Zhi Xing of the Chongqing Eastern Shipping Corporation , built in 1994, is hit by a cyclone on the Yangtze River and capsizes. There were 406 Chinese passengers, five travel agency employees and 47 crew members on board. The 14 people who have been rescued so far include Captain Zhang Shunwen and the chief engineer. More than 4,000 emergency services are active at the scene of the accident.
- Leicester / United Kingdom : Independent investigative journalists publish the result of a forensic analysis, which shows that the satellite images published by the Russian government of the crash of the flight of MH17 over eastern Ukraine through the Kremlin had been manipulated with Photoshop to a debt of the Ukrainian government to suggest. The latter accuses Russia of being partly responsible for the disaster by delivering missile defense systems to the separatists , as the plane was shot down.

- Pyongyang / North Korea : It is known that when members of the German-Korean parliamentary group of the German Bundestag with the chairman Hartmut Koschyk ( CSU ) attended church services in the cathedral of Jangchung in Pyongyang, the North Korean “priest” gave his “sermon” to the “holy war” against South Korea . North Korea is hoping that the German parliamentary group will get involved in the German economy, but the chairman of the parliamentary group has the impression that the shadow economy is increasing in the largely isolated country.

- Klagenfurt / Austria : Defending champion FC Red Bull Salzburg wins the ÖFB Cup final against SKN St. Pölten 4-2 in the Wörtherseestadion .
- Riga / Latvia : In the presidential election in Latvia , the incumbent Defense Minister Raimonds Vējonis ( ZSS ) will be elected as the new president by parliament in the fifth ballot.
- Seoul / South Korea : 30 people are infected as a result of an outbreak of the MERS-CoV . More than 1,300 people are in quarantine. As a precaution, over 500 schools in the country have closed.
- Stuttgart / Germany : The 35th German Evangelical Church Congress begins. The organizers want a colorful festival, but also a forum for controversial debates. The motto is: "So that we can get smart".

- Accra / Ghana : A large fire at a gas station in Kwame Nkrumah Circle causes explosions and more than 90 people are killed. Presumably, many people passed out by the explosion drown in the sewer near the petrol station, which was flooded by heavy rain.
- Marjinka / Ukraine : Contrary to the Minsk II de-escalation agreement of February 2015, there is fierce fighting between government soldiers and pro-Russian rebels in the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic . At least five Ukrainian soldiers, 14 rebels and several civilians died.

- Khost / Afghanistan : The US Air Force kills at least 34 people in a drone attack on a funeral of a Taliban commander in the Alisher district around 35 km east of Khost .
- Washington, DC / United States : The United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the independent human resources agency for the US administration, announces a cyber attack in which the perpetrators allegedly gained access to the data of around four million US citizens.

- Berlin / Germany : In the 2015 UEFA Champions League final in the Olympic Stadium , FC Barcelona beat Juventus Turin 3-1 .
- Khamis Mushait / Saudi Arabia : In response to the Saudi military intervention in Yemen should the Houthi rebels first time a ballistic surface-to-surface missile of the type SS-1 (NATO code: Scud) Arabian Saudi city in the province of Asir where there is also an air force base. Two Saudi Patriot anti-aircraft missiles intercept the missile.

- Ankara / Turkey : In the parliamentary elections in Turkey , the ruling conservative Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP) of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu loses its absolute parliamentary majority. In addition, the election is seen as the defeat of President Recep Erdoğan (AKP), who announced plans to change the form of government from a parliamentary republic to a presidential system in advance . The socialist Halkların Demokratik Partisi (HDP) moves into parliament for the first time. Right-wing extremist Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi (MHP) is also growing .
- Basel / Switzerland : FC Sion wins the final of the Swiss Cup in football in St. Jakob-Park with 3-0 against FC Basel .
- Krün / Germany : At the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau in 2015 , the heads of state and government declared that they wanted to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70 percent by 2050 compared to 2010. They also want to tighten the sanctions against Russia if the situation in eastern Ukraine continues to escalate, and they also reaffirm that they will jointly take decisive action against the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) .
- Luxembourg / Luxembourg : In the referendum on the right to vote for foreigners, the limitation of ministerial mandates and the right to vote from the age of 16 , the voters reject all three proposals with a large majority.
- Mexico City / Mexico : The ruling party Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) of President Peña Nieto defends its majority in the parliamentary elections in Mexico . - Darmstadt / Germany : In the case of Tuğçe , the accused is sentenced to a youth prison term of three years.

- Kabul / Afghanistan : Several fighters of the deobandic - Islamist Taliban storm the Wolesi Jirga , the Afghan lower house, during the swearing in of the new Defense Minister Mohammed Masum Stanekzais . Previously, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a car at the west gate of Parliament. Two people are killed in the attack. The Afghan sergeant Esa Khan, later celebrated as a national hero, managed to stop six Taliban fighters.
- Rome / Italy : The European Union begins the military operation European Union Naval Force - Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR MED) in the southern Mediterranean under the leadership of the Italian Navy , which also uses the aircraft carrier Cavour (550) . 14 member states are participating in the operation to rescue migrants at sea and to combat human smugglers and their infrastructure. - Athens / Greece : The Greek government announces that it will refuse to pay 1.6 billion euros from the Greek treasury to the International Monetary Fund . Greece would be in default for the first time.
- Cairo / Egypt : The Egyptian attorney general Hischam Barakat is seriously injured in a car bomb attack in the Heliopolis district and dies shortly afterwards in hospital. Zakaria Abd El-Aziz Osman is appointed as his successor.
- Paris / France : Through the publication of further documents by WikiLeaks , it is revealed that the US National Security Agency (NSA) carried out industrial espionage against key companies in France from 2004 to 2012 . Corresponding findings are said to have been transmitted to the intelligence services of Australia , Great Britain , Canada and New Zealand .
- Sanaa / Yemen : 28 people died in a car bomb attack by the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) on the house of Faisal and Hamid Jajasch. A funeral service for influential Shiite Houthi leaders was held in the house.
- San Juan / Puerto Rico : The governor of the US American suburbs Alejandro García Padilla admits that Puerto Rico will not be able to repay the accumulated debt of 72 billion dollars. Due to its special status, the island cannot hope for any aid from Washington. Economists criticize that only 40 percent of the adult population is working or looking for a job and expect ten-year structural reforms to make the territory competitive again.
