  • Ismailia / Egypt : President Abd al-Fattah as-Sisi solemnly opens the new Suez Canal .
  • Moscow / Russia : Due to a decree by President Putin , several tons of western food that entered the country despite the import ban will be destroyed. Unusually strong displeasure and protests against the implementation of the decree are emerging from broad sections of the population, so calls are being made for food to be distributed to those in need.   • Istanbul / Turkey : Four people are killed and at least ten others are injured in a bomb attack and a subsequent attack on a police station in the Istanbul suburb of Sultanbeyli . Four people died in attacks in the Şırnak province in southeastern Turkey.
