Sandra Petersmann

Sandra Petersmann (* 1972 in Hamm in Westphalia ) is a German radio correspondent.

Life

Sandra Petersmann studied politics and history in Hanover from 1991 and was already active in radio during her studies. In 1996 she spent a semester abroad in Johannesburg . After her return from South Africa, she volunteered at Deutsche Welle (DW). She then became an editor there. Sandra Petermann reported for DW particularly from crisis areas, where their paths regularly with those of the ARD - correspondents crossed. She then belonged to the ARD correspondent network and reported on South Asia from New Delhi . After her return in early 2017, she works for Deutsche Welle in Berlin.

Awards

In 2016 she was awarded the newly created Courage Prize for current reporting by the Association of Women Journalists . She was honored for her educational reporting, the "different view" of the social conditions behind politics and power as well as the constant questioning of clichés.
