The Journalistinnenbund e. V. is a 1987 by at the Women's Policy interested and committed in the women's policy journalists in Frankfurt established a registered association . The seat is in Cologne . The association has around 400 women members and sees itself as a women's political network in the media sector with working groups on various topics such as gender , media monitoring , mentoring , media laboratory and brave (project to support female journalists in the Arab world) as well as projects such as “Aging in journalism ". There are regular meetings of the regional groups North, Berlin, Bonn / Cologne, Munich, Rhine / Main, Ruhr and Southwest.

The association has developed training materials and assistance on gender-sensitive texts in journalism and public relations and has been running the website genderleicht.de , funded by the Federal Ministry of Women , since 2019 . The Union of Journalists also supports the Pro Quote media initiative .

Hedwig Dohm certificate

Since 1991, at the annual conference, selected female journalists have been awarded the Hedwig Dohm Certificate for their outstanding journalistic (life) achievements and their commitment to women's politics . The winners are:

Marlies Hesse Young Talent Award

Since 2002, the JB Young Talent Award, Alternative Words - New Tones , which received the name of its founder in 2012 and the Marlies-Hesse Young Talent Award , has been awarded annually for outstanding commitment in the media of film and television, online journalism, print and radio was renamed, awarded to young female talents. The Association of Journalists has been running the website genderleicht.de since mid-2019 with "Tips & Tools on how to write and speak without discrimination [...] facts about gender equality in words and pictures" and examples "how fair media work can work easily and always." The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .
