Gesine Strempel

Gesine Strempel (born June 1, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German journalist , author, presenter, reporter and translator .

Life

Gesine Strempel has a sister named Holle five years her junior. From 1959 to 1966, Strempel studied journalism , American studies , art history and theater studies . In 1997 she developed breast cancer and has since supported the work of the breast cancer initiative. In addition, she is involved in the advice center for people with eating disorders “Dick & Dünn e. V. ". Her hobbies include running and swimming. Gesine Strempel lives in Berlin and lives in a relationship.

Strempel began in 1967 as a permanent employee, later as a freelance writer, presenter and reporter for the women's political program Zeite at the cultural radio of the SFB (later RBB). In 1973 she attended the international women's film seminar in Berlin and was committed to establishing the seminar in other cities as well. In a conversation between Helke Sander and Gesinde Strempel about the magazine Frauen und Film around 1980, Gesine Strempel stated:

Gesine Strempel has been learning Hebrew since around 1999, frequently flies to Israel and reports on the German-Israeli relationship , with particular attention to the situation of women. In cooperation with the association “Ta Tzitzikia e. V. ”, who is committed to the“ planning, promotion and implementation of political, cultural and social projects ”, she moderated the presentation of the book What I always wanted to say to the Jews, on which she was involved.

In December 2003 Halina Bendkowski , Günter Langer and Helke Sander published an open letter to the then integration commissioner Marieluise Beck, the minister for women Renate Schmidt and the minister of justice Brigitte Zypries in response to the so-called "headscarf debate". Gesine Strempel signed this letter as 85.
