  • Baghdad / Iraq : The outbreak of cholera west of Baghdad in September has already led to over 2,200 new infections and six deaths and is a threat to the entire region, including the neighboring states of Syria , Kuwait and Bahrain , as infections are also recorded there and thus the risk of one Epidemic persists.

  • Ankara / Turkey : After penetrating Turkish airspace and several disregarded warnings, Turkey shot down a Russian Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jet in the Turkish- Syrian border area . Due to the violation of Turkish sovereignty and the integrity of Turkish territory, NATO is holding a special meeting. Russia contradicts the Turkish representation and is of the opinion that the plane was in Syrian airspace the whole time. According to information from Turkmen rebels in the Syrian border region, one of the two Russian pilots was killed and the second is missing.
  • Tunis / Tunisia : At least a dozen people are killed in a bomb attack on a bus in which members of the Tunisian President's guards are traveling.
  • Vatican City : The trial of the two Italian journalists Gianluigi Nuzzi and Emiliano Fittipaldi , the prelate Lucio Ángel Vallejo Balda , who is in custody, and the PR agent Francesca begins in front of the Court of Justice of the Vatican City for the unauthorized publication of confidential documents about financial ills in the Vatican Chaouqui and Nicola Maio.   • Ouagadougou / Burkina Faso : In the presidential and parliamentary elections, Roch Marc Kaboré is elected as the new head of state in the first ballot.
