The People's United Party (PUP) is a political party in Belize .

history

The PUP was founded in 1950 by George C. Price . Price was head of government from 1964 to 1984 and from 1989 to 1993. From 1998 to 2008, the party again provided the head of government with Said Musa .

The party emerged from the independence movement in what was then British Honduras and has Christian Democratic roots. Today it is classified as more oriented towards social democracy and is located slightly left of center in the political spectrum .

The party chairman has been John Briceño since 2016 .

Election results

In the 2015 general election , she won 12 out of 31 seats in the House of Representatives. It is the country's largest opposition party and the only opposition party represented in the House of Representatives.
