Mbabane is the capital of the Eswatini Kingdom and the capital of the Hhohho region . It is the administrative and, along with Manzini, the economic center of the country.
geography
The city with about 90,000 inhabitants is located in the Mdimba Mountains , in the north-west of the country at 1243 meters. The Mbabane River flows through them .
climate
Mbabane has a mild climate. The mean lows fall to around 7 ° C in the winter months of June and July, but the maximums still reach almost 20 ° C. In the summer months of November to February, the mean highs rise to around 27 ° C, the lows then lie between 14 ° C and 17 ° C. While the winter is dry with monthly rainfall of 20 mm, in the summer months up to 180 mm rain falls per month.
history
The city was founded by the British in 1902 after the Second Boer War and in 1903 it was declared the administrative headquarters of the British Protectorate of Swaziland. It was named after the ruler Mbabane Kunene, whose clan lived in the area at the time.

The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Eswatini and the Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa are located in Mbabane .

In Mbabane there is the Tinkhundla Mbabane East and Mbabane West . In the west, the Inkhundla Mhlangatane immediately follows and in the east Hhukwini .
economy
The town's economic backbone is formed by the nearby tin and iron ore mines . Interstate International was an automobile manufacturer from Mbabane.

Mbabane is home to the football clubs Mbabane Highlanders FC , Mbabane Swallows FC and C&M Eagles Sales FC .

Mbabane has been twinned with Fort Worth in the USA since 2004 .
