Port El Kantaoui

Port El-Kantaoui ( Arabic مرسى القنطاوي, DMG Marsā l-Qanṭāwī ; by many just called El-Kantaoui or Kantaoui ), also known under the name Sousse-Nord , is a small Tunisian port city planned on the drawing board . It is located about 10 kilometers north of Sousse . A large number of restaurants, souvenir shops, portrait artists, candy and almond sellers shape the cityscape.
history
Due to the fact that Tunisia became a permanent fixture in the offers of tour operators , those responsible decided in the mid-1970s to build Port El-Kantaoui on a picturesque stretch of coast. A holiday center was to be built, which with a golf course and a marina would also meet high demands. At the end of the 1970s this decision was put into practice. The El Kantaoui project was financed with funds from Kuwait , Abu Dhabi and the World Bank .
An Islamist assassin shot and killed on 26 June 2015 with a Kalashnikov -Sturmgewehr on the beach and in the RIU Imperial Marhaba Inn and the El Mouradi Palm Marina at least 39 people and injured 36 more. Tourists from Belgium, Germany and Great Britain were among the victims.

The port of Port El-Kantaoui, the "first garden port of the Mediterranean ", is called "Port de plaisance" ( marina ), is about 4 hectares in size and has 340 berths. These are rented to yacht owners at high prices.
Les Maisons de la Mer
The port is surrounded by Les Maisons de la Mer ( The Houses of the Sea ). This complex consists of low apartment buildings , nested courtyards, shopping arcades, restaurants and cafes.
Les Maisons des Jardins
The complex Les Maisons des Jardins ( The Houses of the Gardens ) also consists of low apartment buildings with countless souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a fountain both in the middle and at the eastern end of this complex .
Hannibal Park
Hannibal Park is located very close to the Les Maisons des Jardins complex . This is a leisure and amusement park with a number of carousels and kiosks.
