Partido Verde Ecologista de México

The Partido Verde Ecologista de México (Green Ecological Party of Mexico - PVEM ) is a Mexican party that is mainly committed to environmental protection. It was founded in 1993 and is a member of Global Greens . The party leader is Carlos Alberto Puente Salas .

The party joined the PRI as Compromiso por México in the 2012 presidential election . The two parties together received 38.15 percent of the vote. With Manuel Velasco Coello , the PVEM has been the governor of the state of Chiapas since 2012 .

In the general election in Mexico in 2015 , 7.06 percent of the vote was achieved. In the 2018 presidential elections , she joined the “All for Mexico” (Todos por México) coalition with the conservative PRI and the economically liberal Nueva Alianza . The joint candidate José Antonio Meade Kuribreña achieved third place with 16.43 percent of the vote.

criticism

The party has come under increasing criticism for entering into a strategic alliance with the PRI , actively campaigning for the introduction of the death penalty , and being opportunistic and power-hungry in the eyes of many Mexicans.
